Coming from a family that "live to eat" food is not simply food! Ironically, "kitchen" was a foreign word to me when I was growing up. My nephew, Ken, on the other hand always followed his late aunty by the dining table where they would make the traditional cookies for the family. Since then, he acquired such a passion for cooking and baking thus refining his taste bud. While juggling between his Uni-education, and working part-time in restaurants in Melbourne, he also attended countless cooking and baking courses to hone his culinary skill. I think he spent more time in the kitchen than on his books then! But today, he is indispensable to the family, especially during the Chinese New Year and we are so lucky to have our very own "Chef". However, for myself, I only discovered the joy of the culinary world when I moved to Germany 6 1/2 years ago. It turned out to be a vocation for me. Being a cake-lover and a cookie-monster, baking became an immense source of pleasure. The afternoon 'Kaffee und Kuchen' (Coffee and Cake) habit in Germany gave me a good reason to test and improve my baking skill. The repeated second helping from my invited guests definitely motivated me to venture further into this field. Believe us, we've received some 'mmmmmmms' and 'wows' from people who have tasted our fresh homemade goodies.
